If the original metal roof frame and groove are OK the canvas / fibre roof insert will be as waterproof, if not more so, than a metal patch. I've seen carryall roofs leaded in, welded on, rivetted on, etc. and they all leak. I redid mine with ordinary hardboard covered with car roof vinyl, a new seal from VPW, and a coat of rubber paint over the sealing area all the way round. You cound turn it upside down in a puddle and it still wouldn't leak. Biggest problem was welding up the 200+ holes that the Norwegian rivets left. Gordon.
