Fuel sending unit question?

I have a 1951 B3pw and have a wiring harness from vintage wiring of Maine. The fuel sending unit on the gas tank has one terminal but i have two wires going to the tank. 2nd question is-- I put a 251 in this truck and converted to 12volt. I need a resistor between the ignition switch and the Gauges, but don't know what type of resistor or where to get one?
Any help would be great.
