I used a 1 7/8" Forstner Bit for the big washers. The Forstner makes a nice clean edge. You just have to gauge the depth. It would work better in a drill press, but you can use this in a hand drill. Maybe you can find someone with small hand and fingers for the nuts above the gas tank.
