One of the paradoxes of capitalism is that while free competition will provide the best deals for the buyer, it forces the seller to constantly look for ways to neutralize its power. The ways to eliminate competition are unlimited. Using the power of a central government to give you the edge is very ominous. A quick look at the history of the last hundred years can reveal where this can go.
