SORRY SIR I may have viewed your winches incorrectly.everyone of those I've been around had a hydraulic motor bolted to the drive side to run them, not a "drive shaft". that case is just like by the "photo" as it appeared to me like the one's we had. we ran 1 hyd pto for multiple app's multiple winches, compressors, blowers etc with 1 drive source.the cover on the drum drive gear housing is where a mechanical cable winder or wrap drive assy is bolted to ensure that as your winding up, the cable tracks properly on the drum.this fact is why I think it has an app for a crane, wrecker or jib set up.because it has to be "RIGHT" all the time on the drum.generally you would see this in a severe service app off road no flat ground to even bridge up your equipment so thus requiring a manual method of wrapping the cable on the drum. it is all mechanical at this point, due to ratio issues. the drum drive is to slow to run a hyd assy effectively if at all!I wish I had payed closer attn to the brands. ours were mostly Tulsa with just a few Braden models or so I believe not sure if they had the name's always cast in or not I preferred the"Tulsa's" and honestly we just worked the "P" out of them and went on.you may look at southeastern equipment's site. there are a # of military wreckers with pics that show a similar set up on the light boom winch although I'm all but certain they are Braden. always ERIC
