Last weekend we had "Depot Days", the annual Mother's Day car show in Wallace. It was the best turnout ever, partly because the weather was perfect. The really cherry restorations were all displayed by older folks, but anybody can enter that show and quite a few youngsters had their work-in-progress pickup trucks and muscle cars, probably all pre-1980. Some were clearly focused on hopping up the drive train without regard to the body. I put my Tucker Sno-Cat in just for the fun of it, and all the young guys thought it was the coolest thing ever. They'd never seen anything like it. There was even an unrestored FFPW in the show, though with a newer Dodge bed on it.
Maybe I'm in a cultural backwater here, but it seems like there are still quite a few young guys who like working on old rigs. And no there weren't any low-riders or hot-rod Hondas.
