How about you just take your old sender, which you know works, and use a piece of 1/8" gas welding rod to make a longer float arm for it? That's what Tucker did in my sno-cats, with a 30 gallon that's almost 3 feet deep (mounts vertically behind the seat). And while you're at it, fix the connection between the float arm and the housing so the sender is reliable.
