I will try that tomorrow. Given that this appears to be a civilian engine with half of the military accessories transferred over when they did the swap (intake, carb, and distributor), is it possible that the offset tang on the military distributor would fit (loosely) into the centered tang on a civilian oil pump? It would depend on how wide the slot is and how thin and how offset the tang is, I suppose. Maybe they didn't swap out the oil pump when they put the civie engine in the truck. Or maybe they put a civilian shaft in a military distributor? I should have looked closer when I had it out. All my other trucks and engines are still snowed in so I can't compare.
