Learning how to sharpen the chain and keep it sharp is a big part of satisfaction with the tool. The chain is like the tires on a four wheel drive truck. If they aren't right for the mud or snow or ice, it doesn't make much difference what the truck can do. It's pretty much the same with a chain saw.
