Good. That is what I remembered they were like. It will be hundreds of times easier to fill the letters with Paul's suggestion or with paint. If you end up using paint, you might try shooting the knob with fast drying spray epoxy paint. Then wipe the knob with xylol or acetone or lacquer thinner to remove the excess.
