The posts, beams, purlins, rafters, and joists are all fitted together with very close tolerances. Mortise and Tenon joints are very strong. They are then pegged together for a semi permanent joint. Proper sheathing of the framework, adds rigidity, as does the placement of flooring. Trusses strengthen the roof and main posts. Purlins tie rafters together. Properly made they are skeleton that is covered and tied together with external sheathing. Corner posts are strengthened with knee braces to keep things plumb.
