I had a generator that was installed from another vehicle.(still dodge) This generator had adjustable brushes that could change the charge voltage by swinging the brush carrier from side to side. Depending on which way the carrier was slid metered the initial voltage, then the regulator took over. Many of you may remember people doing this in model A fords etc.
