That does not sound right. Any company that put out a part that would burn up in a matter of seconds would not be there long. I am sure that they tested the units. I am also sure that they tested what would happen if the ignition switch was left on for a period of time.
If they are having this problem, I am sure that it would be all over the place.
Get a hold of Pertronix Customer Support. Talk to them and ask for help. I would think that their customer service would not be in India.
