Yep, that would be it. 10 years ago they were $7,000 for the stripped down 6 wheel base version and $15,000 for the 8-wheel version with a few luxuries like a bigger motor and a canvas top. The best thing about it was the steering transmission which was easy to use and smooth. I think the engine was a 2-cylinder Suzuki. It's hard to say what was worse -- the chain drive (all the wheels are driven and all connected by chains and sprockets inside the tub), the overall noise (even worse than a Tucker), the cheesy plastic tub and canvas top, or the price. The salesman said he'd sold a bunch to the Verizon that winter, which was a deep snow winter, but I've never heard whether they liked them.
In defense of Argos, they were really made to be an all-wheel drive low-pressure swamp buggy that could also swim to some extent, and the snow tracks were kind of an afterthought. It's no surprise that a vehicle made for dry land, swamps, deep water, and snow isn't very good at all of those things.
