Thanks Jerry,, Thats how I thought it worked. So back pressure/compression tends to hold valves shut. Valve springs also hold valves shut. I fail to see how a stronger spring would help. I was thinking that on Fords with Hydralic lifters, that constant pressure may cause the lifters to (partially) colapse. On a long downhill constant compression would be pushing on those valves/lifters,, Cummins are solid, no problem. Adding even more pressure with a stiffer spring would only add to the problem, See where I am comin from??
