I too have seen many things that have made me wonder this very thing. I have been in the Fire service for 16 years now and all I can say is it gives us a perspective on just how precious each minute that God has given us is and just what a sacrifice that he gave us in Jesus when he watched his son die on the cross for our sins.
In a couple of hours I have to go stand guard at one of our members wake, (off duty death). I just pray that God give me strength each day he gives me to do his calling.
