My uncle bought a used 39 Cadillac with V-16 when he returned from the Pacific after WWII.
He drove it around for a couple of months, but the cost of gas was too expensive and he sold it for not much less than he paid for it, a few hundred dollars.
A couple of years ago I saw one sell for close to $400K.
