Standard round here is a 5 ton 'bottle' jack that the British army must have bought by the million. Got to lift and push anything I might want to work on for USD 15 or thereabouts.
The only work I'd consider doing would be refilling them. I use some hydraulics at work and they NEVER come apart and go back together without some seal or fitting being trashed.
Bought an original Dodge WC jack with folding haldle for about USD 50 a couple of years back. Works reeally well but I keep the usage down. original jeep jacks were USD 125 equivalent at UK shows this year.
