If they are 'lead acid' and are 'sealed', you can easily pry off the two rectangular covers on the top of the batteries, you will have 3 cells under each cover, the liquid level should be approx 3/4" down from the top of the battery case, usually there are anti-spill sleeves in each hole, the electrolyte should be just to the bottom of the sleeves. If your batteries are the newer 'gel' or 'non-spillable' types, there is no liquid electrolyte in them, thus you need not try and open them. Have fun! Keep warm!!
