I installed the front bumper and the running boards tonight. I also painted the bumper unit numbers on. I know this vehicle would not have landed in France, but it was more in honor of my grandfather "Red" Grant who was a medic in the 743rd Armored that was attached to the 30th infantry division and landed on Omaha beach on D-Day. He was awarded a Bronze Star for going into the line of fire to save American soldiers during the landing. The 743rd was also awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for its performance on D-Day. He survived the war and came home to run a restaurant in Junction City, Kansas but died from a heart attack when my mom was 17. I wish I had known him.
