something doeesnt sound right there about the diodes i was of the impresion that the generator produced Direct current voltage and the alternator produced Alternating current in which the (diodes generaly 6) took of "loops" top and bottom of the waves of alternating current, to produce direct currentt . just as generators have induction to the field so do alternators, the regulator either internal or external governs the out put ..i have never seen voltage drop across the diodes as explained to me years ago diodes were nothing more thanone way check valves for the current ,, which in a alternator osciltate or form waves of voltage and the diodes once again pic up the top and bottoms (hence) loops to provide a consistant smooth flow of current please correct me if i am wrong ~ copey
