And I may just end up making one. I have some thin copper sheet that would be fine. The newer ones have a plastic float, which is probably best of all. I've seen brass floats (not sure if it was carburetor or fuel) that developed pinhole leaks in the soldered seams after a long time. Of course I don't know why I worry about something like this going bad 50 years from now. I'm very unlikely to be alive, and if I am, there's certainly not going to be any gas to put in the tank anyway. I do kind of wonder how common it is for cork floats to get soggy and sink, though.
