as a winch is the most dangerous piece of equipment you can find - would be very wise
to download & read the information that has
been suggested. always wear heavy gloves while working with the line.
you might also contact your local operating engineers union office & they might be able
to put you in contact with a member (or retired member) who could give you some training.
