It's a 2.8, 45 state legal, diesel from VM Motori (a division of Detroit Diesel owned by Penske and Daimler)
Jeep uses that motor in Europe, it has 168 HP and 305 lbs of torque.
That particular Jeep had to have been imported after it had 6,500 miles on the odometer.
Sadly Chrysler was asleep at the switch once again and GM has purchased the rights to the new 3.0 version of that motor, for use in all 50 states in 2010...assuming of course that there will still be a GM in 2010....
