Now that I know I have a civilian crank pulley in my ambulance, I know why the 56" belt was too loose. I went over and pulled a military crank pulley off a spare engine and was going to put it on, but now it looks like I need to change the timing cover too, because the timing pointer is welded to the cover and is set in to match the diameter of the pulley. I may just leave the civilian pulley on at this point, and see if it spins the generator fast enough to generate.
