I'm not sure if all M-series gas caps have a fording valve in them. I know I've seen many that do. I'm not sure if I've seen any that don't. The fuel tanks are vented through the cap. If you look inside the cap, there's a thing you turn that can seal off the cap to keep water out for fording purposes. Obviously you can't drive very far without some kind of vent to the gas tank. I only mention this to make sure you have the fording valve open if you still have an original non-vented tank and the new cap has a good tight gasket on it.
