That is what I thought. The M37s have a NP420 with a bolt pattern that matches the early PW bell housing. That is how you can get a NP420 synchro transmission into an early PW with out having to change the bell housing.
I believe that I saw a note on DC's web site that showed an early and late M37 transmission. I believe that it was a change in the case and not much else.
