13.8 to 14.2 is the acceptable range. You will gassify your battery with more than that. (yup, that's a real word)
I have done a couple of 12 volt conversions using VPW's single wire alternators, and they both charged higher than 15 volts. In both instances, I had to take the alternators to a local shop and had them put in OEM internal regulators to solve the problem.
