True, but anything above 15 is going to overcharge the battery. With an old-fashioned battery, you'd just add water, and then adjust the regulator down a bit, but I'm concerned that overcharging will ruin a (not inexpensive) optima battery in short order. But again, what matters is the actual voltage at the battery posts. Perhaps it's within specs.
