That was "fixin to happen" on one of my clunkers, so I bought a $10 racing hood pin kit from AutoZone. After getting the rods set for tight hood closure, I removed the entire stock latch. Some of the kids think it looks cool and that sucker is not moving until those two pins are jerked out.
