... that France was the first real friend the United States ever had. The French General Lafayette served under Washington as a volunteer, French troops fought alongside Continental troops, and French ships literally turned the tide of the war at sea. It is I think a fact that we would not have prevailed as a nation without the help of France.
We've had our ups and downs since then, but maybe, just maybe, a Frenchman has a little right to comment on our Prsidential election.
