We just treated some large gate posts this summer. They were 20" in dia and 18 feet long. We lifted them with our M-819 wrecker into a 50 gal drum.
The receipe would be about 50/50 mix of old diesel fuel and used motor oil.
In the good old days you could use Pena. I am not sure what commercial pole yards use, but it comes out kind of green.
Soaking at least a day would be in order to get good penetration.
