Thats sure an interesting event. In thinking about it, if he has hydraulic failure the most he will drop is the length of the arm. This would be with a hydraulic failure on the arm.
The tower was built for this to happen and it seems that the arm locks into the structure. I'd be more worried about trying to wedge the track. If there was a hydraulic failure on the drive motors for the track or if it didn't lock in right, it would drop to the ground :o(
Kind of nutso in my opinion...
