Not sure why bias ply tires should be "squirly" if you have the same kind all around. Maybe they were extra-stiff for a lightly loaded truck>? The only trouble I've had was mixing bias and radial like they always tell you not to do. One bias ply tire in the rear, with radials everywhere else, and the truck was pretty much trying to jump right off the road at any speed above 35.
