That is exactly correct, the current Hemi is more Poly than HEMI. The only thing the new Hemi shares with the HEMI original is the spark plug placement.
That being said, the Poly was no slouch and the new Hemi's can flat run circles around anything else out there, while getting very respectable fuel economy numbers.
The SRT8 Challenger gets 18 mpg with a 6.1 Hemi, too bad the rear tires only lasted about 3 miles....)
