Do they still work by having an electromagnet that pulls itself against the 'disc' surface of the drum? Friction there causes a lever to apply what would normally be a parking brake linkage. So maybe one 'disc' got slippery? Rust due to prevailing wind? Or grease from one side?
Or, are you used to pulling with such a heavy load? M-37s ain't no compacts.
