Roll it in close, and sit facing the tire. Put your feet under each edge, and lift with your boot lace area.
No tools needed. Might not work for you, but then I have plenty of lead in my asterisk as a counter-balance...,
Does everybody know how to re-mount the spare? Lean the spare up against the running board backwards. Then,lifting from the bottom, flip it into position. That way you don't have to lift the whole thing, just the bottom- where there is still plenty of lead in that asterisk.
