Max overbore on 230 ?

Any ideas or experience on the maximum that you can overbore a 230 engine ? My buddy just heard from his machinist that he went .80 ( eighty) over, and he's worried that that is way too much ? One cylinder got sleeved, and then I guess that got the .80 over treatment as well...
