On all my trucks, I use a NAPA 10 circuit fuse panel ( Part Number 782-3212). Its actually made by Buss Inc. I wire my trucks much akin to modern vehicles. I use a continuous duty relay rated for the load that is controlled with the ignition key, to bring power to the fuse panel. I also used a master disconnect at the battery.
When the ignition key is off, only headlights, tail lights, brake, turn and 4 ways are operative. With key on, the entire vehicle is powered up. Think of your modern truck/car, this is the way its wired also, with the exception of maybe interior lights.
I choose to go with fuses for positive protection and non resetting as with some types of breakers. If a circuit has a problem, I do not want a automatic reset. I want to find the problem prior to re-energizing. Also fuses are available anywhere, even Walmart. Finding a needed defective breaker might be a problem or at least a delay depending on where you live or weekend.
Little Fuse, one of the Giants in Circuit Protection has a Interesting presentation on Fuses vs Breakers. Go to the link,
