The Soviets captured the factories intact, essentially ripped them out of the ground, and moved them to the Urals, where they started cranking out motorcycles for decades unchanged. They did this with all kinds of things: cameras, trucks, weapons, aircraft parts, etc. Going to the USSR in the 1980s was like time travel.
