Vaughn. Are you saying he should coat both sides of the gasket? Just asking that question because I remember an old mechanic friend, who is no longer living, told me more than once that you should thoroughly clean both surfaces, and apply gasket sealer to only one side. He reasoned that the gasket would seal without the sealer, and the sealer really only held the gasket in place until the parts were joined together again. His rebuilds never leaked on stuff he rebuilt for me.
