I have been driving Hwy 21 near Boise, ID my whole life. It bisects a major game migration route. It is our local "deer kill alley." We have alot of new comers that can't figure out that you can actually drive slower than the posted speed limit. They usually learn the hard way. Deer whistles are useless. The solution is to slow down and watch the roadsides closely. In the winter the deer congregate at the edge of the road. It must be the de-icer or warmth of the road surface that attracts them. Yes, if your car has airbags the correct hand position is at the bottom of the steering wheel not at the top. Never cover your face with your hands in a car with airbags. This will cause serious injuries. If you are in a Power Wagon, by all means, cover your face with your hands. It may keep the deer guts out of your face. However most deer can out maneuver even the fastest Power Wagon.
