I am looking for any information about W200 Town Wagons or Town Panels, I would also be interested in any information about any D200(3/4 ton 2wd) TW/TPs.
The only 3/4 ton 4wd TW I have seen belongs to John Geidl and he brought it to this years VPW rally.
There seems to be some confusion about what the difference is between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton TW/TP.
In 1957 and 1958 Dodge used 6 bolt hubs(rims have 6 bolts) for both 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4wds, the 2wds used 5 bolt for 1/2 ton and 6 bolt for 3/4 ton.
In 1959 and 1960 Dodge used a 8 bolt hubs for 1/2 ton 4wd and 6 bolt for 3/4 ton 4wd. 2wds still had 5 bolts for 1/2 ton. '59 3/4 ton 2wds have me at a loss, they may have used 6 or 8 bolt rims, I am not sure, but 1960 trucks used 8 bolts for 3/4 ton 2wds for sure.
In 1961 Dodge started using 8 bolt hubs for both 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4wds, and 3/4 ton 2wds. 1/2 ton 2wds were still 5 bolt.
There are some 2wd TW/TPs that have 3/4 ton running gear, but are still 1/2 tons according to the data tag, and there are some 4wd TP/TWs that have 3/4 ton springs for the extra load of the winch, but as long as the truck is still a D or W100, then it is still a 1/2 ton.
The only way to be sure about what you have is to look at the serial number, I made a list to help clear things up.
The number after the first letter[K,L,M,(in the case of 1960 the number 0)] is number of cylinders, so it could be 8 instead of 6.
In '61 to '66 it is the third number that tells how many cylinders you have.
100= 1/2 ton
200= 3/4 ton
1957 starting serial numbers:
D100= K6D10-L01001
D200= K6D20-L01001
W100= K6W10-L01001
W200= K6W20-L01001
1958 starting serial numbers are:
D100= L6D10-L01001
D200= L6D20-L01001
W100= L6W10-L01001
W200= L6W20-L01001
1959 starting serial numbers are:
D100= M6D1-L01001
D200= M6D2-L01001
W100= M6W1-L01001
W200= M6W2-L01001
1960 starting serial numbers are:
D100= 06D1-L100001
D200= 06D2-L100001
W100= 06W1-L100001
W200= 06W2-L100001
1961-1966
D100= 116*******
D200= 126*******
W100= 216*******
W200= 226*******
