Look very carefully in the rocker and quarter panel areas for rust. The standard joke here is they came from the factory with rust. I never seen an original Scout II without some rust, and that is in ND, where they don't salt the roads.
The engine will live forever, the transmission is a Chrysler 727 and the T-case is a Dana 20 if it has low range. If it is a single speed case, it is a weird chain drive unit.
The picture looks good, if it really is a runner and is rust free, or even close to it, it is easily worth $2000. They are fun little trucks. It has Dana 44 axles front and rear, unless it has front drum brakes, then it has a Dana 30 front. That makes no difference unless you plan to run big tires and a lift.
I say get it.
