800 amps is really not that much. Most line-voltage fuses and breakers have to be able to interrupt 10,000 amps successfully. What's unique about your fuse is that it's made for low voltage; for a 48 volt battery backup, I assume. Here's a picture of a normal 800 amp line voltage fuse like you might use on a 500 HP motor.
