There is a fix for this I saw in Diesel Power magazine. I myself have a '97 ram and have experienced the same thing. This can be reduced by making sure that your stabalizers are fresh and that all links are fully greased (to reduce slop). I think the fix is a bar that goes from frame to frame to keep the base of the power steering unit from moving. Here is the link
