Personally Tim I would remove the cattails. Once they get established they become a true pain. Not to mention the potential that the area would develop into a wetland and that's one of the species that I look for when I do wetland delineations. When the beaver move on and they normally do after they have exhausted their food source. Just my thought in the matter.
