Different opinions on this. Some report good results with as little as 1 to 2 psi. Others recommend 3.5 to 4. I researched this a while back and decided to run at 3.5 psi, and run a return line back to the tank.
Others are spontaneously combusting at the mere thought of replacing the reliable mechanical pump with an electric. A search of the archives will bring up previous discussions with good pros and cons. In addition to the electric pump, you will want to run a filter before the pump, and very seriously consider an oil pressure shut-off switch wired in to the fuel pump's electrical circuit. Good luck.
