Most brake fluid is hygroscopic, it absorbs water from the atmosphere.
Some will argue, but ideally brake fluid should be purchased in smaller containers as once it is opened it will begin to absorb water from the atmosphere. This water once in your brake system will cause corrosion.
When you rebuild the brakes, do not refill using old open containers of brake fluid but new bottles of non-hygroscopic brake fluid.
