Fuel pump woes

I put on a new fuel pump, got the lines unplugged.. I SAW the pump fill and work, once. Now nothing.
It is a flathead 6, I think a 236 (there are no serial numbers on the block. It has a Spitfire head).

If it worked once wouldn't that indicate it being installed properly? I can't do the pressure/vacuum tests as it is just me.

I guess the next thing is to pull off the pump, put it back on and see if it works..

Idea's?
